My Poetry

J Speaks A Lot - A Short Story

Life responds from a lifeless object if one passionately loves it. J is my car. It has been responding to all my needs whenever called for. Its an unity of the opposites - a man with full of life and a car that has no flesh, bones or blood. I groomed with it that imparted me lessons to drive in any unfavourable condition. Its strength of tolerance is limitless. Many a time I gave it pains by dashing or crashing with other objects, discoloured it and broken its body parts. Sometime I was able to get those repaired or sometime not for no money in my purse. Yet it glitters for my personal care by washing it most of the days including in dull winter. The passerby would still look eagerly on to it and would regret the cute berry red coloured car moves with damages over its body clearly visible for regular wash.

Some would kind enough to suggest, " Mr Roy, please be careful while driving it". That meant the driver was looked as a villain and the car a hero. Its my elation to feel my J is loved by others.

A police officer managing traffic on road who is also a friend of mine started behaving with a difference and would love to tender free advice, "Roy, it would be a great pleasure if I could take you with your car to my locality during Rash Utshab* ".

I replied, "Yes, of course, I'll be there next''.

The most fun I enjoy while I fail to stop at a good looking girl waiting on a road side for a lift. The unknown lady would desist herself to watch my wife sat on the back sit. Suddenly, J would raise its speed without pushing the accelerator too much in total disarray to the driver. May be the naughty landau felt happy and tried to appease her mother. My face crumbled pale.

My lovely J while carrying two donkeys on a day with me, the duo discarded for getting it too old and would suggest fetching a new version for more comfort. Listening the uttered rejection, my J would growl like a wild beast and would jerk those donkeys to alert that it still remained a strong car amid newer versions. While stopped at a place, its silence raised a question at me with its ever open eyes, "will you sell out your own son to get more comfort?"

AN ISLAMIST- A TRUE PEACE LOVER

My mason Shyamal a Hindu sent to my residence a Muslim youth to repair a damaged portion of my toilet. The young mason has visibly attracted to come closer to him and tempted me to know his life. He is a Madrassa educated man and is qualified to be a Moulavi to organise prayer in the mosque. He did so for years in Murshidabad district of West Bengal at a meager wage what was insufficient to meet his family commitment. They are 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He has taken responsibility of his younger brother right from the childhood to bear the expenses for his education. Now that little kid is studying graduation in geography. A son of daily wage labour he shared liability of his family. He shared the liability of marriage of his elder sister. He is married to a Muslim girl and being his husband Mustafa left no effort unattended to impart higher education to his wife who is also a college goer. Mustafa understood from his life, the Madrassa education to become a Mullah has no future except allowing Taliban fanatics to misuse his youth against Kafeer, the Hindus. His sense of contemporary politics is also sharp. While asked whether he tried to avail benefits of dole for namazies extended by Mamata Bannerjee government in Bengal, he politely refused to be obliged. He experienced how those few wealthy men enjoyed central government subsidy for Haz yatra in Mecca. He totally opposed to talibanisation of Islam and never supported attempts of islamisation of civic society. He always loved to live in a multicultural society. After the conversation, I commented. "A true Islamist is more welcome than a bad Hindu element in a Hindu dominated India'. He did not respond but indicated his highest faith in humanism.

Taslima Nasreen & friends

She made a fun of words in blogspot.com for so called destruction of the world today as told by Mayan civilisation . She lambasted Islam and discarded obsessions of religion and upheld her faith in modern day science & technology. I replied and suggested her to be equally violent like dreaded militant outfits of Taliban, Al-Quaeda, Laskar-e-Toiba, Indian Mujaheddin. Because they only understand language of gun machines and not of peace and wisdom. My poor friend Prof. Mohit Roy is perhaps tired of staging protest rallies and meets against these enemies of civilisation. My another stupid but bosom friend unfortunately with a Muslim name and title working as a plant doctor also widely regarded in North Bengal University as a lovely 'Sir' expressed his anguish while I showed a little trust on a party like BJP despite its win in Gujarat but failed in Himachal Pradesh. The politically innocent 'Sir' once appeased Mamata ji as Ma Durga but now turned to her another foe, the BJP. He even wrote on a net screen justifying causes to be its secular standing and expressed regret for keeping safe distance by Mamata ji with it for Muslim vote. My three friends viz. Mohit, Taslima and Dr. Kabir are on the same kind of boat sailing and searching in their own ways for a world of love and peace.

Driving Towards A Sea Beach

Man proposes God disposes! What was thought of is not being done. Driving 250 km from my city of Calcutta to a sea beach named Digha by own car should have a pleasant journey. But road condition coupled with unforeseen risk may make the driving a bitter one; hence it was rightly advised by my well wishers and friends who suggested to board an express AC train. Accepted. I'll proceed tomorrow for a weekend leisure.

Its now winter in Bengal. Seasonal flowers started to blossom. Sea water looks calm and chill sun shine makes the tourists feel comfort. What is disturbing in walking through the sea beach is dirt and filth remain here and there much to the dismay of the walkers. Yet sitting on the beach and chatting with your better heart and a smiley child along with sea fish fry on a shiny day is a something different feeling. But you will feel sad  of other half of your heart if your elder boy feels uncomfort in the dwelling home.

A STUPID EFFORT

If a coward dies many a time, stupid dies twice. Often stupid shows courage to undo many things, but fails to succeed in one chance.  The delayed success gives it poor ratings. Yet some would console, ‘’Good attempt. Don’t get disheartened. Carry on’’. Without realising its actual capacity, the stupid goes on and on and gets a subject of discussion. After all, the monkey has the ability to climb to top of a tree, but it can’t touch the moon.  Because it’s a monkey.

UNFORESEEN

Day before yesterday while I was driving accross road destined to my home my eyes were haunting for a girl whom I liked as my daughter. But she was not available what she used to stand by the side of that road earlier waiting for me to enter into my saloon car. I would always tell her to be seated behind me facing the mirror. Why was because if the car crashes from the front she would survive. I often found her in tears for some heartless guy and she would lament her passionate desires to build a small heaven to make him happy. Alas! her dream crashed and she is invissible. But my car J is plying on road as usual. Thus anything happenes unproposed by human being. The fear is often gone with the wind wating for newer one to bite. The way life goes on and on.
